Elgin police shot and killed two pit bulls Wednesday evening who were reportedly running loose in a neighborhood and demonstrating “threatening behavior.”
An Elgin resident called police after discovering the pit bulls in her backyard about 10:30 p.m., according to reports.
Police said they attempted to capture the animals, but the animals became too aggressive so officers were forced to shoot them on the scene.
The owner has been charged with several crimes including two counts of dangerous animal behavior and two counts of having a dog at large.
